Hoarding Cleanout Services

When things start to feel like too much, you don’t have to handle it alone. Rooms that used to feel open now feel tight. Items pile up faster than expected. It becomes hard to know where to start.

JunkStart provides respectful, full-service hoarding cleanout to help clear space at your pace.

What Is Hoarding Cleanout?

Hoarding cleanout is the physical removal of accumulated belongings from a home, once items have been identified and set aside. It’s typically the final step in a longer process, not the first.

Sorting usually happens before we arrive — with the homeowner, a family member, or a professional organizer or counselor. If you’re reaching out on behalf of a family member, that’s the most common situation we see. Once sorting is done, JunkStart handles the lifting, hauling, and clearing from there.

Not every cluttered home reflects a clinical hoarding disorder. Many people accumulate more than they intended over time. Either way, we approach every cleanout the same way: with discretion, without judgment, and focused on helping you move forward.

We handle removal only — not deep cleaning, disinfecting, or biohazard remediation. If those services are needed, we’re happy to coordinate timing so everything happens in the right order.

What We Remove

Every hoarding cleanout is different, but most include a mix of everyday household items that have accumulated over time.

  • Furniture and mattresses
  • Boxes of accumulated household goods
  • Clothing and textiles
  • Books, magazines, and paper clutter
  • Appliances and electronics
  • Broken or unusable belongings
  • General household debris

What We Don’t Take: For safety reasons, we cannot remove hazardous materials such as chemicals, fuels, asbestos, or biohazards.

What Does Hoarding Cleanout Cost?

Large volumes can feel overwhelming, but pricing shouldn’t add to that. JunkStart uses certified onboard scales to measure the exact weight of what’s removed. Your cost reflects what’s actually there, nothing more, nothing less.

A base pickup fee covers labor, fuel, transport, and responsible disposal. From there, you pay a per-pound rate based on verified weight. You see the number before anything leaves.

When possible, items are separated for donation or recycling. Personal documents and valuables are flagged for the homeowner or family before loading. Everything else is taken to approved disposal facilities.

Frequently Asked Questions About Hoarding Cleanout Services

  • How quickly can you schedule hoarding junk removal?

Availability depends on your location, but many areas offer next-day or priority scheduling. We aim to work within your timeline and can coordinate timing based on how quickly you’re ready for items to be removed.

  • Can you remove everything in the home?

We can remove most non-hazardous items, including furniture, household goods, and general debris. However, we cannot take hazardous materials such as chemicals, fuel, asbestos, or biohazards. If you’re unsure about specific items, we can review them with you ahead of time.

  • Do I need to sort items first?

Yes. Items you plan to keep should be set aside before our team begins loading. This helps ensure that only the intended items are removed and keeps the process smooth and efficient. If you’re working through sorting in stages, we can schedule removal once you’re ready for that step.

  • How much does hoarder junk removal cost?

Pricing is based on weight, not how much space the items take up. We provide a weight-based estimate upfront using typical ranges, so you have a general idea of cost before scheduling. After everything is loaded, items are weighed using our onboard truck scale, and you’ll see the final weight before pricing is confirmed. This keeps the process clear and consistent.

  • Do you provide cleaning or disinfecting services?

No. Our hoarding cleanout service is focused specifically on junk removal and lifting, loading, and hauling items that are ready to be taken out of the home. We do not provide deep cleaning, disinfecting, or sanitation services. If those services are needed, they can be arranged separately, and we can coordinate timing so removal happens alongside or before cleaning.
